Driving Alone is Expensive
|
| | Car pooling helps reduce driving and parking congestion dramatically. Even sharing with just one other person would reduce the number of cars on the road significantly.
In addition to benefiting the community, car pooling has many personal benefits as well. You save money in gasoline, parking fees and vehicle wear and tear. When you're not driving, you can use the extra time to relax, read, pay bills, catch up on work or socialize with friends and colleagues. The frustration of commuting alone in congested traffic is reduced when you share a ride with others. | |
|
| | Park-and-Ride lots provide a central meeting place adjacent to major travel routes where commuters can meet to form carpools or catch buses for the remainder of the commute trip and leave their cars parked for free.
Caltrans presently operates two Park-and-Ride lots in Butte County, with a total of 154 paved spaces available.
